Swedish artist Eva Stenram’s exhibition Decor at Peter Lav Gallery shows works from the two recent series Drape and Parts. As in much of Stenram’s work both series are based on found material, in this case on vintage pin-up photographs from the 1950’ies and 1960’ies. Through digital manipulations Stenram emphasizes and mocks the inherently sexist notion expressed by these images: that the female body primarily functions as decor, an entity whose primary function is to beautify our surroundings.

Stenram is represented in several international collections including Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Gallery. She has recently had solo exhibitions at Open Eye, Liverpool and Fotografins Hus, Stockholm and has participated in numerous group exhibitions worldwide
